Monolithic Brewing, Locally-Owned Craft Brewery Opens in Northwest Omaha

Monolithic Brewing (monolithicbrewing.com) is one of the newest breweries to open in Nebraska and the first to open in Northwest Omaha. Located near 120th and Fort Streets, Monolithic is a locally-owned, independent craft brewery serving a variety of flavors and styles from light sessionable beers, to IPAs, stouts, hard seltzers, and everything in between. Its beers are paired with light food fare prepared in Monolithic’s scratch kitchen.

Monolithic was well-positioned to serve its patrons safely without many modifications to its business concept. Its location offers 5,050 square feet of indoor space that seats 80 and an outdoor patio that seats an additional 30 and overlooks a pond. Monolithic brews everything in-house on its 3.5 barrel system and does not distribute its beers to retailers, bars or restaurants. Its focus on in-house distribution of draft beers and 32 oz. to-go crowlers has allowed Monolithic to more readily meet the needs of its patrons, whether they are comfortable dining-in or prefer to stay-at-home.

Monolithic is owned by Todd Hartung and Derek Richards who have a combined 40 years of restaurant experience. Todd has worked in various foodservice management roles placing an emphasis on customer service and Derek holds a Culinary Arts Degree from Colorado Institute of Art, and has been a part of his family-run business, Cunninghams, for the past 10 years. Home brewer turned Head Brewer Shane Costello has a background in banking, sales and foodservice. With a shared passion for craft beer and exemplary service, this partnership was the perfect fit to start a brewery.

Nebraska has seen tremendous growth in craft breweries since 2011 and Monolithic now joins a community of 55 Nebraska craft breweries. Monolithic is excited to serve Northwest Omaha and the surrounding neighborhoods, through its taproom, which is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (with plans to open on Thursdays this month), as well as being accessible to traveling craft beer lovers located only a mile and a half from I-680.
