On May 1st, Governor Dave Heineman and Mayor David Black of Papillion, along with Midlands Place, will mark the erection of steel for the first two buildings in the new Midlands Place development.  Midlands Place is located next to the Midlands Hospital at the intersection of Highway 370 and Washington Street in Papillion. The event will highlight the completion of a cooperative effort by the State Highway Department and the City of Papillion, to start construction of a five lane road expansion project from Highway 370 to Schramm Road.

The Governor will recognize the importance of the growth of small business in the State and acknowledge the group of five Nebraska businesses who will announce the execution of leases in Midlands Place. Each business has selected this location because of the strong economy of Papillion and the premium location of the development. Midlands Place will have two buildings ready for occupancy by August and plans to build four more. There will be a total of at least 128,000 square feet in the development with an estimated construction cost of $19 million. The tenant uses will include a mix of retail, office, service, restaurant, medical and hotel.
