Throughout the month of September, Mutual of Omaha employees across the country have left their offices, rolled up their sleeves and made a difference in their communities by volunteering with local organizations.  Accordingly, Omaha volunteers have been volunteering locally on Open Door Mission’s Campus every Thursday in September. They have put in more than 250 volunteer hours lending a hand, assembling pantry boxes to help supplement low income families and individuals empowering them to remain in their own homes and prevent homelessness. They also presented Candace Gregory, president and CEO of Open Door Mission, with a check to assist with rising food expenses on September 26th.  “Open Door Mission continues to serve more men, women and children than ever before,” says Gregory. “During these difficult economic times, more than 18% of the people we serve have never asked for assistance before. I am so grateful for our partnership with Mutual of Omaha. Their gifts of time, talent and treasures are truly preventing homelessness right here, right now in the Heartland.”  For more information, contact Candace Gregory at (402) 968-5892 or visit www.opendoormission.org.
