Igloos Return to The Capitol District

The igloos are returning to Omaha’s Capitol District (www.capitoldistrictomaha.com) just in time for the cold weather. The see-through domes offer guests a warm, comfortable, intimate place to gather with a small group of friends under the twinkling lights of The Capitol District. It’s like being inside a cozy snow globe. The heated igloos were first brought to Omaha last year as a COVID-safe alternative for winter fun. They are spaced throughout The Capitol District’s plaza, with the option of an eight-person dining igloo or an eight-person lounge igloo. Guests can order food or drinks to be delivered from The Capitol District’s many restaurants and bars and add on various experiences like s’mores or cookie decorating kits. The igloos opened November 5 and will remain open throughout the winter months. Each igloo rents for a 1½ hour block of time and costs $150.

Wallace anticipates many special events coordinated with the igloos throughout the season, including Santa visits, holiday specials, tie-ins with the Sistine Chapel Exhibit, and opportunities to catch sporting events on The Capitol District’s giant screen. Last year, the igloos even hosted a very intimate wedding. Complete details on events and booking information can be found by visiting capitoldistrictomaha.com/igloos.
