On Monday, May 25 at 10 a.m., Forest Lawn Cemetery will again host its Memorial Day event honoring fallen service members, veterans and their families representing all branches of the United States military, as well as friends and the community.
The service is led by American Legion Post 1, which was established in 1899. Activities include speakers, a 21-gun salute and the playing of Taps. Area Boy Scouts greet visitors at the gates of Forest Lawn.
“We are proud to hold this event every year to honor United States veterans who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country,” said Brian Kruse, executive director at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Cemetery and Mausoleum. “Since 1885, Forest Lawn has served as a final resting place for veterans who served in conflicts dating from the U.S. Civil War to the present day.”
Guests also include Nebraska senators, as well as U.S. Senators and Congressmen representing the State of Nebraska.
