Holland Basham Architects Receives Award for Interior Design of the John Deere North American Marketing and Sales Headquarters
Holland Basham Architects (HBA) has earned the Silver Interior Design Excellence Award (IDEA) in the “Corporate Over 25,000 sq.ft.”

category from the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) for their design of the John Deere North American Marketing and Sales Headquarters in Olathe, KS. The 126,150 sq.ft. building is home to more than 400 marketing and sales professionals who provide support and service to John Deere sales branches and agricultural dealerships across North America.

The IIDA bases their IDEA awards on concept, innovation and execution, as well as appropriate and innovative use of materials, color, light and furniture; criteria HBA met exceptionally well. HBA’s building design incorporated Chairman William Hewitt’s original 1964 design concept of the John Deere corporate headquarters in Moline, IL, which is “thoroughly modern… while also down-to-earth and rugged.” As a tribute to John Deere’s long history, green products such as sorghum board and ag-based wall coverings were used throughout the facility. The main entrance lobby also exhibits large scale porcelain tile that mimics Cor-ten steel used at John Deere’s World Headquarters.

This state-of-the-art facility was awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold level certification.
