The Greater Omaha Chapter 116 of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) ( is proud to announce its recent recognition at the NAWIC Midwest Region Spring Forum in Branson, MO on May 1 to 3.

The chapter was honored with the ‘Reaching Out Award’ for its exceptional efforts in community engagement and partnership development. This accolade celebrates their commitment to fostering connections with similar associates, chapters and local communities.

A highlight of their community outreach initiatives was “The House that She Built” book which was read by 23 NAWIC members to 20 elementary schools across Omaha, Lincoln and surrounding areas. Together, they introduced 772 children to the exciting possibilities of a career in construction. The enthusiasm and positive feedback received from both students and educators were truly gratifying.

Looking ahead, NAWIC’s aim is to double their participation next year, with a goal of 46 members engaging in similar activities. They are dedicated to inspiring the next generation of women in construction and continuing to make a meaningful impact in the community.
