Farris Engineering (www.farris-usa.com) is excited to announce the completion of the new Sugar Creek Elementary school in Waukee, IA, in partnership with FRK Architects + Engineers and the Waukee Community School District. The $19 million project broke ground in May of 2020.

The school opened on August 23 to over 600 kindergarten through fifth grade students. The school can hold up to 750 students. Farris Engineering has completed seven schools for the Waukee Community School District in the past 15 years.

The school has 35 classrooms, a library, cafeteria, playgrounds, and a gymnasium.

Sugar Creek Elementary becomes the district’s 10th elementary school, which is part of a 10-year plan to accommodate rapid growth in the suburban community.

According to the Des Moines Register, students will feed into South Middle, Timberline and Waukee High School. Sugar Creek is not the last of the district’s projects.  An 11th elementary school is planned to open in Urbandale, IA by the fall of 2024.
