On Thursday, August 27th Companion Services opened three retail stores located at 132nd and L Streets: Island Blends – Smoothie Shop, Inspired Creations – Gift Shop, and Treasure Cove – Thrift Shop. Totally unique and untried in Nebraska, and perhaps in most states, Companions are performing the day-to-day operations of each store.
Held in conjunction with Millard Days, members of the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce and the Millard Business Association were in attendance for a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m., along with members of the Omaha Metro community who were invited to join in the celebration.
Located in the heart of Millard, Companion Services is not only celebrating their own achievement, but also shared in the community celebration and parade that has been a long-standing part of the community they will be serving.
Companion Services is a human services organization that is intentional in its mission, vision, values and operational strategy to shed archaic institutional treatment models, attitudes and thinking when serving individuals with intellectual disabilities.
