Clearwater Counseling Therapists Expand Expertise Through TF-CBT Training
Therapists at Clearwater Counseling, PC (clearwatercounselingpc.org) recently completed a special training program regarding Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), an evidence-based treatment that helps children and adolescents recover after trauma. The training, which took place on September 12–13, was skill-oriented and emphasized the implementation of those practices into sessions.
“We explored various screening measures and assessment tools, as well as how to discuss trauma in-depth with children,” Jessica Frenzen, PCMSW, PLMHP, said. “We also practiced skills and worked with parents and caregivers in sessions.”
According to Kayla Leddy, CEO and clinical director, the training provided additional skills for therapists to help clients overcome trauma they have experienced. “Recovery after trauma is possible with the right tools,” Leddy said. “We feel we have gained so much from attending this training. We are excited to start utilizing this evidenced-based treatment model even more with our clients.”
COO/Co-Owner Nikki Frenzen also completed the training earlier in her career, and she continues to regularly make use of these skills.
