The Better Business Bureau of the Midwest Plains (BBB) (bbb.org/mwpscholarship), through its Student of Integrity Scholarship Program, has awarded 17 scholarships to first-generation high school seniors across its five-state region.

These $2,000 scholarships, totaling $34,000, recognize students who exemplify outstanding leadership and integrity. Funding is provided by the BBB Education Foundation.

At least three scholarships were awarded in each of BBB’s regional service areas: Omaha & Southwest Iowa, Lincoln & Greater Nebraska, Kansas Plains, Kansas City & Western Missouri and South Dakota.

Recipients include students pursuing both two-year and four-year degrees, all of whom are the first in their immediate families to attend college. Priority was given to students who qualified for free or reduced lunch and students planning to attend schools within the BBB Midwest Plains service area.

To honor their achievements, each recipient will be recognized at the BBB Torch Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, September 24. Complimentary tickets will be provided for the student, their designated school counselor or administrator and up to two parents or guardians.
