It was all smiles as people gathered at Blue Sushi Sake Grill in the Old Market for a free half day event of bitcoin-related activities on September 15th; the result of collaboration between two local bitcoin businesses, Alpha Bitcoin and BlockchainIO. First on the schedule were three information sessions. Paul Oliver from Alpha Bitcoin presented the basics of bitcoin, and Ansel Lindner from BlockchainIO covered the future of bitcoin. The legal aspects of bitcoin were discussed by local attorney and bitcoin enthusiast, Matt McKeever of law firm Copple Rockey. The day also included a scavenger hunt around the Old Market, putting contestants on a quest for QR codes hidden in participating businesses in order to complete bitcoin transactions. Sponsors included Big Brain Productions, Goldsmith Silversmith, The Tint Shop, Copple Rockey Law Firm, and BitAccess. Guests wrapped up the evening with cocktails and sushi, witnessing history in the making as Edward Weniger of Alpha Bitcoin revealed the very first Bitcoin Kiosk (BTM) in Nebraska! Its permanent location is still being finalized, but for the evening, attendees were able to make transactions buying bitcoin through the BTM or withdrawing bitcoin as cash.
