Imagine going to a vending machine to purchase food, clothing, baby supplies, medicine or chickens for someone in our community or around the world.

This year, Nebraska and Iowa residents can do just that. As part of the annual Light the World initiative, visitors at Westroads Mall can participate in an instant act of kindness by donating items available from the Giving Machine. With a simple card swipe, individuals can purchase items for people in need throughout eastern Nebraska and western Iowa or around the world from Dec. 20-31.

The local nonprofits who will participate in this year’s Giving Machine Omaha include:

  • Center for Immigrant and Refugee Advancement (Omaha)
  • Children’s Nebraska (Omaha)
  • Foster Care Closet (Lincoln)
  • New Visions Homeless Services (Council Bluffs)
  • Project Harmony (Omaha)
  • Women’s Center for Advancement (Omaha)

The Light the World Giving Machine, sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is a global initiative that started in 2017. Since then, more than $32 million has been contributed to assist millions in need. More than 100 cities will host these unique and memorable vending machines in 2024.
