Jurassic Park is the feature film this week for the Summer Saturdays FREE outdoor movies, as well as live entertainment and lawn games hosted by Heartwood Preserve. The Summer Saturdays outdoor movie events will be held in Heartwood Park at The Bosque, the central area of the park accessed from 145th Street. Live entertainment starts at 5 p.m. The movie will start around 8:30 p.m. at sunset.

In addition, there will be a special appearance from Stomp Chomp Roar, which will have dinosaur fossils on display and provide prehistoric-themed education and entertainment. The upcoming movie lineup features Jurassic Park (Aug. 10), Arthur The King (Aug. 17), The Parent Trap (Aug. 24), and Elf (Aug. 31).

There will be free activities each Saturday night: a DJ who will play music and host games, including trivia with prizes; lawn games such as Giant Jenga, Giant Chess, and Cornhole; and free kids’ offerings including an obstacle bounce course, face painting, and balloon animals.

Delicious food and drink offerings, including adult beverages, will be available for purchase from popular area food trucks. Also available for purchase will be to-go boxed dinners from nearby Heartwood restaurants Charleston’s, Mahogany Prime Steakhouse, Little King Deli & Subs, and Starbucks.

Ample free parking is available across from Heartwood Park between Canopy and Dewey avenues along 145th Street.

Movie goers are encouraged to bring low-back lawn or beach chairs and blankets. Picnic tables and umbrellas will be available for the attendees to enjoy.
