Heartwood Preserve ‘Summer Saturdays’ Movie Series Concludes with Elf

| FreeElf is the final feature film during the Summer Saturdays FREE outdoor movies hosted by Heartwood Preserve. On Aug. 31, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Summer Santa will make a guest appearance to take photos with attendees and make a special announcement.
Summer Saturdays features movies, lawn games and live entertainment each August Saturday night in Heartwood Park at The Bosque, the central area of the park accessed from 145th Street.
There will be free activities: a DJ who will play music and host games that include Christmas-themed trivia with prizes; lawn games, such as Giant Jenga and Giant Chess. In addition, there will be a Cornhole Tournament with BIG prizes. Free kids’ offerings will feature an obstacle bounce course, face painting, caricature artist and balloon animals. The fun starts at 5 p.m., photos with Summer Santa will start at 6 p.m. and the feature film will start at 8:30 p.m.
Delicious food and drink offerings that include adult beverages will be available for purchase from eCreamery, The Itis, Haven Express, Big O Snow and Midwest Mixers. Also available for purchase will be to-go boxed dinners from nearby Heartwood Preserve restaurants Charleston’s, Mahogany Prime Steakhouse, Little King Deli & Subs and Starbucks.
Ample free parking is available across from Heartwood Park between Canopy and Dewey avenues along 145th Street. Movie goers are encouraged to bring low-back lawn or beach chairs and blankets. Picnic tables and umbrellas will be available for the attendees to enjoy.
