At Big Birge Plumbing, we aren’t your average everyday plumbing company, we love what we do and we have a high level of pride in our profession. We also know that without you (our customers), we wouldn’t be here and every second we are in your home or business, we won’t forget that. At Big Birge Plumbing, this is our vow to you; this is how we are set apart from every other plumbing company in the Omaha area.
In August of 2012, Big Birge Plumbing was founded by Brad and Lallenia Birge. At the time Brad had over 15 years of plumbing experience, but had been a workingman since the age of 14. He started in the construction industry by working for a local company learning window, seamless steel gutter, and siding installation. He quickly worked his way up to foreman, learning what it takes to manage his own jobs and a crew of men. After evaluating his future, Brad decided to launch his career into a trade profession, which is where he found plumbing. A commercial/industrial plumbing company took a chance on him and enrolled him in the apprenticeship program. For the first month, he thought he had made the worst mistake of his life as he dug ditches in 100-degree weather with a foreman barking orders at him. However, in time, he started to get the hang of it and soaked up as much information as he could. During this time, he began to appreciate the beauty and art involved in plumbing, and he was hooked! He had the privilege of learning from some of the best plumbers. They taught him plumbing theory, code, and tricks of the trade to make him efficient, professional, and knowledgeable.
After years of hard work and schooling, Brad earned the level of journeyman plumber. After meeting his wife and having a child, he decided it was time to take another leap towards improving and investing in the future for his family and himself. He accomplished getting his Master Plumbing License, which was needed to run a full-blown plumbing company.
Unlike her husband, Lallenia does NOT have years of plumbing experience, nor has she dug ditches in 100-degree weather. Her background is in the fitness industry. When she first met Brad, she was a personal trainer at the gym he worked out at. After over a year of obsessing over him at the gym he finally “got the hint” and asked her on a date. Soon after they got married and had their first child, they decided to start Big Birge Plumbing.
At this point, she did not realize everything that would go into owning a company, working full time as a trainer, and raising a little one. Lallenia ended up having to reevaluate her life as a mom and personal trainer. She decided to back off of full time personal training and learned how to run and operate a business with Brad. With this newfound business they started together, she uncovered another passion in marketing and soaked up as much knowledge and skills as she could to help push the business forward.
Brad and Lallenia want to make a positive impact on the plumbing world and change the way people view plumbers. Many people seem to think of plumbers as the “butt crack” joke, but that is FAR from true! Being a plumber is an extremely prestigious job and it takes a lot of talent and skill to be good at it. Not to mention how important this trade is to the world, keeping people healthy and safe.
Fast forward to today, six years later, they have 14 employees and three divisions of plumbing: commercial, residential remodeling, and service. Each department is led by extremely talented and passionate people.
Brad and Lallenia truly believe they have some of the best people in Omaha as part of their team and take great pride in the company that their team is building.
