After graduating with a degree from UNL and entering the corporate world, I realized I needed to be my own boss and changed my focus to real estate. I’m a licensed agent both in Arizona and Nebraska but Omaha is home and that is my focus. To sum up my business in an interview like this is not possible because everything in my life runs together. All of my goals and core beliefs in life carry over into my business and I would need a book to cover that wonderful tale. If I had to sum it up though I would say this, I care. I care about every detail big or small that affects the people I work with. The transaction is the easy part, I am not committed to houses though, I am committed to people.
I’m also a certified Relocation Specialist through Weichert Realtors-River Cities Group which adds a great skill set that helps me understand the real estate transaction on another level. The attention to detail and efficiency required to be an effective relocation agent are an added benefit to all of my clients. What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Starting over in Nebraska after moving back from Arizona. I came from one of the main epicenters of the economic downturn. I was the first known in AZ to start doing short sales since the 1980’s, and while it was a huge success the decision to move back forced me to start my business all over again. I must say, doing business in Omaha has been an amazing experience. I love the energy and stability here and while it was a challenge, coming home was the best thing I ever did.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Breaking into commercial real estate and building those relationships. It’s challenging because it’s a different beast, but it’s the next level and I love it. It’s in my blood. I come from a construction and development background with my family business, Rodgers Construction, so much of it feels natural to me.
Tell us a little about your family. – I’m very fortunate to have a family that supports me in every aspect of my life. Our personal and professional lives have been pleasantly married together.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – When I was able to upgrade my car and get a navigation system. I turn a lot less now. Lol. All jokes aside, it was marrying my husband Charles and starting that wonderful journey.
What are you the most proud of? – My son Stone, the most perfect thing I have done to date.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received. – There’s not a specific piece of advice I live by, but a sum of it instead. It’s all of my life experiences and those that continue to happen that nurture my growth.
What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – The one book that resonates is Of Mice of Men, it’s a classic.
What is your favorite movie? – Casablanca. It’s great to watch a classic that spans generations and remains timeless.
