Meet Nate Rose, Enterprise Account Manager (Government & Hospitality) at Cox Business (coxbusiness.com).

Tell us a little about your business. – Cox Business provides voice, data, video, and cloud services for more than 355,000 small and regional businesses nationwide, including health care providers; K-12 and higher education; financial institutions; and federal, state, and local government organizations. The organization also serves most of the top-tier wireless and wireline telecommunications carriers in the U.S. through its wholesale division.

How did you get started in the business? – It was sheer happenstance. I had recently graduated from UNL working at a local bank in Lincoln when the sales manager from the cable company in Lincoln reached out to me to gauge my interest. I had a good idea that I wanted to get into sales, but had never thought about telecom and IT services industry. Over the past 12 years I have enjoyed learning about all the businesses I have had the pleasure of working with, many I wouldn’t have known about without being in the industry. I am excited to support the government and hospitality customers here locally and being able to play a part in connecting our community.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – When my position was eliminated at a previous company. Not knowing what was next at young age was a little scary. I didn’t let it define me though and used it as an opportunity to grow and take a chance by moving to Denver.

Tell us a little about your family. – Well, I just got engaged so it is a very exciting time! My fiancé is a nurse practitioner and recently opened a new clinic (NuLife Health and Wellness, check them out!). She has an eight-year-old daughter that is biggest Swiftie I know!

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Moving to Denver early in 2020. It just so happened that the world shutdown due to Covid 10 days after my move. That year was one of the biggest challenges of my life being away my from support system and out of my comfort zone, but I was able to learn a lot about myself and what was important to me.
