Join Breakthrough T1D (walk.BreakthroughT1D.org/omaha) (formerly JDRF) to walk with over 4,000 people to help find a cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D) at this year’s Breakthrough T1D Walk. The walk will be held on Sunday, September 29 at Mahoney State Park and will start at 11:30 a.m. The walk aims to raise awareness for T1D and fundraise to accelerate T1D research to cure, treat and prevent T1D and its complications.

T1D is an autoimmune disease that is diagnosed in both children and adults and has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. For those with T1D, the pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to turning food into energy. This means one must constantly monitor one’s blood-sugar level, inject or infuse insulin from a pump and carefully monitor eating and activity every single day.

By joining Breakthrough T1D Walk, community members will help create a movement to improve and change life with T1D, advancing breakthroughs on the way to cures. Individuals and teams can register to walk today at walk.BreakthroughT1D.org/omaha!
