Meet Hayley Hemminger, Recruiter at Centris Federal Credit Union (centrisfcu.org).

Tell us a little about your business. – Centris Federal Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial organization that is centered on the experience of providing exceptional service and affordable products for our members! Our mission is to be your trusted life long financial partner.

How did you get started in the business? – I pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources. I spent a few years developing my recruitment skills in the IT Staffing world before transitioning into a Corporate Recruiter position.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – The biggest challenge I face in my profession is the talent shortage that is currently impacting everyone but is certainly felt here in Nebraska where we have the lowest unemployment rate. There is a fierce competition for talent that is amplified by concerns of “brain drain” in Nebraska where many of our skilled workforce are seeking opportunities outside of the state.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – The greatest achievements in my career are the moments where I know I am hiring the perfect person for an opportunity, and that they will be equally excited about the position. In recruitment it’s not just a matter of finding the right technical or skills match to a job, but finding that right culture fit for the organization and team as well!

Tell us a little about your family. – I have a wonderful husband who works in the IT space, and we have two incredible dogs that keep us busy and our hearts full!

Who inspires you? – My husband. He is the hardest working person I know and is a jack of all trades because of his passion to continue to learn and teach himself how to do a hundred different things. He inspires me to always be the best person I can be and continue to push myself in my career.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – “We Can Do Hard Things” is my favorite quote that I tell myself anytime the going gets rough. It’s a good reminder that we are capable of much more than we might give ourselves credit for, and to keep moving forward.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Kind.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? – To talk to my dogs and have them be able to talk back!

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – The Nebraska Humane Society is very near and dear to my heart as I have two amazing adopted pups that keep life entertaining! NHS provides such a great resource to the Nebraska community at large and does incredible work.

What is your favorite movie? – Any Studio Ghibli film! The animation and story line are always incredibly well done and have become such classic films for animation fans.

What is your favorite local Omaha restaurant? – Mouth of the South!
