Meet Dr. Ben Reimer, board-certified pediatric dentist at Pediatric Dental Specialists of Omaha (PDS, omaha.mypediatricdentalspecialists.com).

Tell us a little about your business. – PDS of Omaha is a pediatric dental office focused on the oral health of children. Our goal is to partner with parents to help prevent dental disease and provide a fun atmosphere where kids can learn to enjoy being at the dentist.

How did you get started in the business? – I’ve always enjoyed working with kids and also wanted a career in healthcare. The combination of dentistry and helping kids be happy and healthy was a great match!

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – I’m pretty early into my career, so for now I’d say it’s passing the Pediatric Dental Board exam. It took a lot of studying and practice to get there but it helped me be a better dentist and more informed for my patients.

Tell us a little about your family. – I have been married for right about a year to my wife Hannah. We have two dogs, Mia and Gus, and enjoy living in the Field Club area of Omaha. I’m originally from Hastings and my parents still live there.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I enjoy taking the dogs on a walk with Hannah, maybe playing some golf, or watching sports. We also like to take time to travel and see friends and family when we can.

Who inspires you? – My parents and grandparents have always inspired me. The love they have for each other and passed down to me and my siblings is something I want to provide for my wife and kids.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – My grandpa used to use this Theodore Roosevelt quote all the time: “Do what you can, with what you’ve got, where you are.” It reminds me to try to make the most of each day and have a loving impact on those around me. If I can do that each day I think that is a win.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Caring. I want my friends, family, patients, and their families to feel cared for and to feel important. I think life feels more full if you are making others feel important.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? – Teleportation would be awesome! I love flying, but being able to skip the airport would be a great superpower and it would make seeing the world a lot easier.

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – Kids Can is an organization I’ve started supporting that I want to learn more about. I like that it is focused on early education and out of school programming that is so important for kids. They make a difference in the lives of kids by giving them opportunities outside of school and in the summer to keep learning and growing.

What is your favorite TV show? – Lately, my favorites are Ted Lasso and then the classic, Seinfeld.

What is your favorite local restaurant? – The Committee Chophouse has a couple great steaks. Always feel lucky when we get to go there.
