The Assistive Technology Partnership (atp.nebraska.gov) needs contractors to quote on and complete projects located in the homes of individuals with disabilities and senior citizens. The modifications assist individuals to live independently and, in some cases, make it possible for them to live in their home instead of a nursing home.
“We are experiencing a shortage of contractors to assist us with completing these projects,” said Director Tobias Orr. “The independence of an individual can depend on their being able to enter/exit their home, manage their daily care using grab bars and handrails, and maneuver their wheelchair through doorways.”
Plans are provided for ramps, accessible showers, and door widening. The Assistive Technology Partnership is a state agency in the Department of Education, Nebraska VR, and was established in 1989. They assist Nebraskans with disabilities, their families, educators, service coordinators, employers, and a host of agencies to learn about and use assistive technology.
