Meet Sara Shively, office manager at See The Trainer Midwest.
Tell us a little about your business. – See The Trainer (www.seethetrainer.com) is a small business designed to supply durable medical equipment needs to patients and healthcare professionals. The business model does allow us to be in network with major insurance companies and file patients’ insurance following an appointment with their physicians.
How did you get started in the business? – I went to college for athletic training at UNO and got connected to See The Trainer through a friend. I worked here for three years part-time as I attended school. I ended up moving away for about two and a half years to pursue athletic training but then ended up coming back to Omaha to work at See The Trainer.
Tell us a little about your family. – I am originally from Central City, NE, where I lived with my parents and younger sister. I am currently living in Wahoo with my soon-to-be husband. Tyler and I have two Boston terriers, Gunner and Lucy. We do not have any children, but would like to expand our family some day!
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Turning my health around. Not long after I started back at See The Trainer, the owner, Kristie Egan, would beg me to come to the gym with her. One day, I decided to give it a try. I became addicted to going to the gym and making myself healthier. It increased my confidence and improved my mood, work ethic, and energy.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I like to be outside, whether it’s to golf with my fiancé or do yard work.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I like to hunt! I’ve gone hunting with my dad since I was 12, primarily for deer but have gone pheasant and dove hunting with him as well.
Who inspires you? – My mom. She is one of the hardest working people I know, yet she still has time to show me how much she cares for and loves me. She makes me want to be a better person.
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – “Decide to be happy today. Live with what is yours—your family, your business, your job, your lack. If you can’t have what you like, maybe you can like what you have. Just for today, be kind, cheerful, agreeable, responsive, caring, and understanding. Be your best, dress your best, talk softly, look for the bright side, and praise people for what they do.” – Written by my grandma, Irma Janulewicz
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Compassionate.
Which talent would you most like to have? – Speaking more than one language.
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – I’d be a chef. I love to learn new recipes and techniques in the kitchen. It’d be fun to share my talents with others.
What is your favorite TV show? – Golden Girls. I don’t want to admit how many times I have watched it!
What is your favorite local restaurant? – Mouth of the South.
