JE Foundation Supports Caregivers during Pandemic with Emergency Response Fund
Early in the pandemic, the Jennie Edmundson (JE) Foundation (www.jehfoundation.org) established the COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund to help patients and caregivers. This fund helps uninsured and under insured patients with healthcare costs related to COVID-19. These funds aid in certifying their healthcare providers have sufficient protective equipment, supplies, and medical equipment. They also assist vulnerable patients who cannot shelter at home with living expenses, and provide financial support to enable healthcare staff to sustain their resilience.
Throughout the pandemic, the nurses, support staff, and doctors at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital have gone above and beyond to care for their patients and each other. A team of approximately 40 Employee Ambassadors, representing many departments in the hospital, are here for their fellow co-workers by offering emotional support and delivering food, gifts, and treat bags, provided through the JE Foundation fund, to help boost the spirits of hospital staff.
“Our Employee Ambassadors help share the mission of the Foundation and how we make a difference in the lives of our employees and the community we serve,” said Chief Philanthropy Officer and Vice President of the JE Foundation Tara Slevin. “Many have stepped up in support of the COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund which has also enabled the Foundation to create ‘respite rooms’ at the hospital to help relieve stress for frontline workers.”
