Jennie Edmundson’s Spirit of Courage Charitable Patient Events Rescheduled

Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital and Jennie Edmundson Foundation (www.jehfoundation.org) have set new dates for the Spirit of Courage celebration that was originally scheduled for August 7. The Spirit of Courage golf outing will now take place on Monday, October 4 at Dodge Riverside Golf Club followed by the Spirit of Courage gala on Saturday, November 6 at the Mid-America Center. The foundation decided to reschedule the events due to the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 trends.

The annual gala will honor cancer survivors with the Spirit of Courage Award and raise money for the Spirit of Courage Cancer Center Charitable Patient Care Fund. This year’s Spirit of Courage Award honorees are Donna Elliff, Deb Potter, Jake Powers, and Kevin Rutland. Events in the past have included the celebration gala, auctions, and a golf tournament.

The mission of the Jennie Edmundson Foundation is to improve the quality of life by caring for the body and mind. Jennie Edmundson Foundation is the fundraising arm of Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital. Since 2003, Spirit of Courage events have raised nearly $2 million, with all proceeds going to the patient care fund. The fund provides assistance to uninsured and underinsured patients who need help covering expenses associated with cancer diagnoses and treatment. This fund assists patients by paying for medications, treatments, and deductibles as well as everyday living expenses such as groceries, rent, and gas.
