Shayne Fili got started in Auction Solutions, Inc. because her husband needed her assistance in getting the business involved in giving back to the community. As an auctioneer, she felt she could give back with the Bid Calling Service. What she did not know was that this would turn into a career for her, but she couldn’t be happier with her career path and there is never a day when she does not want to go to work. Auction Solutions, Inc. is a full service Auction and Appraisal Company that appraises any item or business for values excluding real estate. They conduct 70-90 auctions annually from estate auctions and real estate auctions to business liquidation auctions. Shayne Fili and Mark Beacom are both CAI Auctioneers and Shayne is also a Benefit Auctioneer Specialist.
Tell us a little about your family. – I have two children, Caleb and Sarah. I share my life with Mark Beacom, a Creighton Prep Grad. We office from our building on our acreage in Omaha. Mark also has two children, Nick and Amanda, and three grandchildren, Isaak, Joe, and Eliana.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Mark used to race his A Sedan Mustang and I used to fish. Now we don’t have so many days off, and hobbies will have to wait. On the few days we squeeze in, it’s fun is to jet ski on some of our area lakes.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – Our auctions become large commotion producing events. I spend a lot of time on the microphone and managing the crowd. I do genuinely like the people I meet and enjoy hearing their stories. At the end of the day, though, I really just like to have some quiet time by myself.
What are you the most proud of? – My company’s success. As a business woman in our area, I made a career choice dominated by males. I entered a field where there are few women, and have been able to build a business with the following rule: honesty, integrity, and respect for the sellers and the buyers. My help is the best I can find and train to do their respective jobs, and they love working with people.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – “Don’t wait for the auctioneers in your area to call you to help. Build your own business.” Colonel Ora Adler.
What is the one goal you would most like to accomplish? – To retire as “The Millionaire Next Door”.
If you could have a super power, what would it be? – The ability to see into the hearts of people. I think a lot of us hide our true feelings, or maybe don’t always know why we do the things we do. If I know why, the solutions are easier to find.
What are your plans after retirement? – Auctioneers never retire, they just keep calling the bids until their kids kick them off the microphone.
