A coalition of four agencies has formed the “Electronics Recycling Alliance of Nebraska” to promote and increase responsible electronics recycling and reuse activities throughout Nebraska. Founding partners are Metech Recycling, and three nonprofit organizations, WasteCap Nebraska, Cross Training Center and Mosaic in Omaha.
The Alliance’s first collection event, “Earth Day, All Day”, will be held at two locations, running consecutively on Saturday, April 21st. The first collection will be held at the Whole Foods in the Regency Shopping Center from 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., and the second collection will be held at SkateDaze, 132nd and B Streets from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A grant provided by WasteCap Nebraska and funded by the Nebraska Environmental Trust is supporting the collections.
Collection event locations will accept “anything with a cord or plug” and all computer peripheral equipment, except for monitors and TVs, free of charge. Recycling fees of $10 – $30 will be charged for the first 2 monitors or TVs per household. Earth Day, All Day special: ½ off fees for up to 2 additional monitors or TVs per household.
