David Newell Reappointed to Nebraska Children’s Commission, Viv Ewing Joins Nebraska Families Collaborative
Nebraska Families Collaborative president and CEO, David Newell, CSW, ACSW, has been reappointed to the Nebraska Children’s Commission by Governor Pete Ricketts.
The Nebraska Children’s Commission was created by the Nebraska State Legislature in 2012 to devise a strategic plan for child welfare and juvenile justice and to work collaboratively with the three branches of government to enhance programs to improve the safety and well-being of children and families in the state. Newell sits on the Foster Care Reimbursement Rate committee which reviews and makes recommendations on foster care reimbursement rates, statewide standardized level of care assessment and adoption assistance payment. His term runs until June 20, 2019.
It was also recently announced that Viv L. Ewing, Ph.D. has joined Nebraska Families Collaborative (www.nebraskafc.org) as Vice President of Human Resources and Community Relations. In the newly created position, Ewing will lead the departments of human resources, marketing and communications and development of the agency.
Throughout her professional career that has spanned across both corporate and not-for-profit organizations, Ewing, an Omaha native, has remained dedicated to helping individuals, families and organizations make positive changes to enhance their success and reach their potential. She served as Executive Director of the Alzheimer’s Association of Nebraska, Director of Government Affairs for Habitat for Humanity, Assistant Operations Director for The Salvation Army Kroc Center, Human Resources Manager at ConAgra Foods, Sr. Director of Human Resources & Administration at Omaha Housing Authority and Human Resources Representative at OPPD. She has received more than 30 community awards and has dedicated her time to organizations and boards such as the University of Nebraska Medical Center Board of Councilors, University of Nebraska Alumni Board, College of Public Affairs Advisory Council, Literacy Center Board, Governor’s Judicial Selection Committee, Nebraska Children Event Committee, Immanuel Pathways Participant Advisory Committee, Hope Center for Kids Guild, American Red Cross Board, Sienna Francis House Board, Catholic Charities Mental Health Committee, Holy Name Home & School Association, Omaha Table Talk and the Human Resources Association of Midlands.
Nebraska Families Collaborative is contracted by the State of Nebraska to provide case management and service coordination for children and families involved in the child welfare system in Douglas and Sarpy Counties, working with approximately 5,000 children and families each year.
