Fontanelle Clinic Chosen as New Name for Nebraska Medicine’s North Omaha Clinic

After 20 years of being recognized as Baker Place, Nebraska Medicine’s north Omaha clinic has been officially renamed Nebraska Medicine – Fontenelle Clinic. The name “Baker Place” originated from the name of the plaza that was once located adjacent to the clinic at 5050 Ames Avenue. Several years ago, Baker’s grocery store left the plaza and retail giant Walmart moved in so the signs that once read “Baker’s Plaza” were replaced. After a thorough review of potential names, Fontenelle Clinic was selected as the new name. “Fontenelle” is frequently used for local businesses and schools in north Omaha. The name references the national historic district and natural landmark, Fontenelle Park.
