Back2Family provides flexible, customized child and family care by providing clients with a specifically selected Family Partner who assists with after school transportation, brief errands, homework assistance, household chores and meal preparation, allowing families more purposed time together. Ty Delley is the founder and President/CEO of Back2Family.

How did you get started in the business? – Honestly, a complete meltdown. I spent almost 20 years at Gallup and left to do some consulting in the entrepreneurial world. I realized I didn’t particularly enjoy consulting, but appreciated the flexibility that allowed me to spend more time with my family. I couldn’t picture going back to corporate, so in a very humbling moment I found myself having a total meltdown – tears, blubbering, the whole deal. However, in the end, it led the creation of Back2Family and a mission to help families who may be struggling with the same challenges my family was experiencing.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Allowing Back2Family to grow incrementally, even though I can envision what it will look like when we’re serving families all across the country. It all takes time, but it’s difficult to be patient.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Taking the leap out of the comfort of a great job with a stable income into the unknown. It was the scariest thing I’ve ever done, but the most amazing also as it has allowed me to maximize the talents, skills and knowledge I had developed to impact families in a really meaningful way.

Tell us a little about your family. – My husband and I have a blended family; six kids total. We enjoy spending time together outdoors, going to movies, and occasionally having Rock Band marathons.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Starting Back2Family. There had always been this internal struggle between being Super Employee and Super Mom and never feeling I measured up in either role. And it’s still a challenge, but now I get to focus on that. The beautiful part is that it not only benefits my family, but we can use what we learn to impact our clients as we continue to develop the services we provide to other families.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Anything outdoors! We love to kayak, hunt, fish, camp, play tennis, and go to the pool.

What are you the most proud of? – I’m really proud that I had an opportunity to “grow up” in a strengths-based culture from my early 20s, so it’s very natural to look for strengths in my kids and figure out ways to leverage their talents for greatness as opposed to trying to fix what they don’t naturally do well.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Study those who have achieved greatness and learn from them.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Impactful.

What local non-profit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – We are just starting to develop relationships with City Impact in Lincoln and The Hope Center in Omaha. Our dream is to partner with organizations like these to provide the services we offer to single parent families and families with ‘at-risk’ youth. It’s a great opportunity to serve our communities in a meaningful way.
