River City Six: Todd Aerni

Bellevue-based Hillcrest Health Services (www.HillcrestHealth.com) proudly offers the Omaha region’s largest continuum of senior living and healthcare services for aging adults. Todd Aerni is the Director of Facilities Management for Hillcrest Health Services.

Tell us a little about your business. – We serve more than 1,000 aging adults every day in independent and assisted living, memory care, in-patient and outpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing, home health and private duty care, hospice, telehealth, outpatient therapy and wellness. Our mission is “to enhance the lives of aging adults.”

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Earning my Masters of Public Administration Degree from Bellevue University.

Tell us a little about your family. – I get to call one of the best people in the world my wife. Lakeysha is beautiful, smart, funny, a great mother, and a phenomenal elementary school teacher. We have two wonderful children. Alivia is a 9 year old fourth grader who loves math, science and swimming. Nolan is a 3 year old who loves helping dad, using tools to build (or destroy) things, and being a superhero.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Spend time with my wife and kids, whether it is going to the zoo, a movie, or just staying in our pajamas all day.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I’m a fantasy football junkie and love playing ping pong.

What are you the most proud of? – My faith. In the Book of James: “5 Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, ‘He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us’? 6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, ‘God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.’ 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.” I would say that I am humble (not proud) to be a Christian in the 21st Century.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – I love woodworking and enjoy working with my hands including constructing projects, from small to large.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – I am fascinated by lighthouses, so I would say a lighthouse keeper.

What local non-profit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – I am a board member for the Sarpy County Swim Club. My passion comes from my daughter’s love for swimming. The organization is very well run and provides opportunities for kids to learn good sportsmanship, increase their physical activity levels, and the skills can be continued for a lifetime.

What is your favorite movie? – The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit series.

What is your favorite TV show? – Sadly, all of my favorites have been canceled, but the list would have included: Monk, Psych and Numb3rs.
