How did you get started in the business? – Long before I held a driver’s license I began my business by mowing lawns in my neighborhood with my dad’s mower and completing property maintenance jobs for my parents’ neighbors. Once I turned 16 years old my operation continued to grow and expanded into several other West Omaha neighborhoods and into snow removal. By 20 years old I sold my lawn care business I had built and invested solely in landscaping. My passion and interests were in custom built water features, ponds, waterfalls, boulder walls and especially all-natural stone work.  I researched and traveled to remote quarries all across the US, shipping natural stone in for my projects, and because of this I was consistently asked and approached for my connections as to where and how others could purchase these beautiful materials. As a result, in 2009 I created a separate division of my company to focus solely on distribution of natural stone. Ultimately, as my time and focus continued to narrow further in on my stone distribution business, I decided after 13 years of building my landscape business it was time to sell and focus solely on Carson Stone & Supply.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – To date, the biggest challenge I face is getting the word out to Landscape Contractors who have previously not purchased product from me due to my previous business in the industry that I HAVE in fact sold my landscaping business. My focus is on Carson Stone & Supply in the stone distribution business and my efforts are concentrated on bringing my clients the best products for their projects at prices that increase project profitability. I have also made myself available to consult and guide my customers in the right direction for the best product to make their projects successful and profitable.

Tell me a little about your family. – My wife, Adrianne, and I have been together since high school and have been married for ten years. Adrianne has worked for the business since 2008 in inventory management and accounting. We have three boys: Dakota (11), Reece (7), and Bentley (22 months). Between their sporting events, golfing, four-wheeling, and love of family vacations, Adrianne and I have our hands pretty full but love every minute of it.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Put the cell phone away, disconnect with business, and hang out with my family!

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.  I have the audio book and try to make my kids listen to it, but they just think I’m weird.

What is your favorite local restaurant? – Thai Kitchen

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – Henry Ford.  I’ve always been amazed at how he trusted his gut with the first production automobile when everyone else said he was crazy and it would never work.
