Smiles beam out from every face as they talk about one man who escapes capture time and again to help the needy.  The group congregated around the tables at the coffee shop is there faithfully every Wednesday.  That week, their attention was centered on the book in their hands, The Adventures of Robin Hood.

The Next Chapter Book Club brings together adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to socialize, improve reading skills, and practice their life skills.  Thanks to a grant from the United Way, more books and more groups–including a new one in west Omaha–will become reality. The activities that Ollie Webb Center, Inc. offers help families face less social isolation while increasing the skills of those living with developmental disabilities.  Over two-thirds of participants using the organization’s services saw improvement in their life skills by 66%.
