The Hope Center for Kids recently signed an agreement to lease the former Whitmer Welding Building at 555 West 23 Street in Fremont for The Hope Center for Kids Employment and Learning Academy, the agency’s after school and summer programs. The 6,750 square foot facility provides a fixed location where the children can feel safe and engaged with caring adults in the community. One of the best assets of The Hope Center Fremont’s new facility is the large fenced back yard, which will allow the children to enjoy outdoor recreation when the weather is nice. An indoor garage provides space for recreation indoors during bad weather. The building will also have two classrooms, a computer lab and office space for staff.

Renovations to the building are estimated to cost $50,000 and should be completed the beginning of May. This year the educational support summer program for youth in grades 5 through 12 will be at the new Hope Fremont location May 26 through August 7.  The meal segment of the Summer Lunch Program this summer will continue to be at the Presbyterian Church of Fremont, and the afternoon program for children in grades 1 through 4 will also remain at the church facility.
