On November 11, 2011 the Nebraska Business Development Center (NBDC) “Veteran’s in Business Forum (VIBF)” sponsored its annual luncheon that featured the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) AFROTC Color Guard, UNO Quartet, and guest speaker Hal Daub at the Marriott Omaha Hotel.  At this Veteran’s Day luncheon, the VIBF awarded its Volunteer of the Quarter Award for the 3rd Quarter 2011 to Russ Kirkpatrick for his work with the “Honor & Remember” campaign and “Nebraska Legislative Resolution 141.”

Honor and Remember is an organization founded by George Lutz that works to promote the Honor and Remember Flag as a symbol for “All Military lives lost not only in action but also in service, from our nation’s inception.” The mission of Honor and Remember is “To create, establish and promote a nationally recognized flag that would fly continuously as a visible reminder to all Americans of the lives lost in defense of our national freedoms.”  Russ, with the assistance of State Senator Scott Price, has brought this campaign to Nebraska in the form of Nebraska Legislative Resolution 141which passed through Nebraska Legislature’s Government, Military and Veterans Affairs Committee by unanimous vote.  NLR 141 will be introduced as a bill in the next session of the legislature.  The award was sponsored by Dennis O’Connell of Compound Profit Advisors and created by John Prouty of The Prouty Place in South Omaha.
