After 36 years of dedicated, energized and upbeat service, Chamber stalwart Larry Gomez is stepping away. The Greater Omaha Chamber hosted a farewell tribute to Gomez in conjunction with Rush Hour Connections networking event on March 14th. Gomez said he is looking forward to travelling and playing golf with his wife, Linda, and to spending time with their three grandchildren. Gomez started at the Chamber in May of 1976 as director of the Omaha Minority Purchasing Council. Gomez’s personal list of accomplishments includes “ground floor involvement” with a number of marquee Chamber events, including the Omaha 25 Awards (now the Big O! Excellence Awards) and the Buy the Big O! Show, the region’s largest and most prestigious business-to-business trade show.
The Greater Omaha Chamber represents more than 3,100 Omaha businesses. Strengthened by one of the largest Chamber memberships in the country and a 5-star accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber acts as the voice for businesses in the region and is driven by a vision to be the catalyst organization that ensures Greater Omaha is a vibrant place to do business, work and live.
