In her efforts to promote women and leadership, Sallie Krawcheck has made national headlines this summer. On October 23, she’s bringing her message of why investing in women makes good business in Nebraska as keynote speaker for the Women’s Fund of Omaha Fall Luncheon.

A former high-profile Wall Street executive, Krawcheck now owns Ellevate, a 34,000-member networking community. She recently teamed up with Pax World Management to launch an index fund that invests in the 400-plus top-rated companies in the world for advancing women.

As is tradition at the luncheon, grants will be presented to local nonprofit agencies for programs targeting what Women’s Fund research has identified as the most critical needs for local women and girls. Additionally, luncheon attendees will vote to determine which of three nonprofit agencies receives the inaugural $5,000 Be the Change Grant. Candidates include Girls Inc., Justice for Our Neighbors-Nebraska and Legal Aid of Nebraska.

Honorary co-chairs for the luncheon are Gail DeBoer, president and CEO of SAC Federal Credit Union, and Karen Goracke, president and CEO of Borsheims Fine Jewelry and Gifts. Weitz Investment Management is the featured speaker sponsor.

The Women’s Fund of Omaha Fall Luncheon takes place October 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the CenturyLink Center. Tickets are $85 for individuals and $1,600 for a corporate table for 10, and are available at www.omahawomensfund.org or (402) 827-9280.
