How long have you been in the Omaha area?
Since Aug. of 2010

Who are the owners/important executives?
Jamie Burrow (Business Development), Martin Webster (CEO) , Brent Dierking (General Manager), and Mic Carper.

What do you think makes you different from other companies similar to yours?
The passion and love that we have for helping people reach their health and wellness goals.  Anyone can go to a gym, but how many gyms can say they have a full staff of people helping them go above and beyond just exercise to get from point A to Z?  Our program offers before and after assessments, nutrition guidance, and most importantly, accountability. We will do whatever it takes to get you to your goal!  But it doesn’t end there; we also offer an alumni program so that members can continue to make fitness a priority and a lifestyle.

What do you like about doing business in the Omaha area?
The members are amazing!  They are driven, focused and continually work hard every single day-pushing themselves to become better and better.   Our members come in with huge smiles on their face, and it’s very inspiring to see people wanting to improve their lives. Our business to business relationships are amazing too.  The relationships we have formed with local businesses and media only enhance our programs and help us provide our members with the best experience!

What kind of community organizations/groups are you involved with?
We work with the Omaha police Dept, Fire Dept and numerous other businesses.  Go to and read heartwarming testimonials and stories.

Do you have a business philosophy or mission statement?
The Mission of the KOSAMA Program Board is to assist KOSAMA members to achieve their optimal physical potential using the latest and most innovative structured programs. This insures that KOSAMA will remain the leader in Total Body Wellness.
Each program is designed to help members achieve optimal physical performance and weight loss. This is accomplished through the science of muscle confusion which includes strength training, stretching, aerobic, anaerobic, and plyometric exercises.
The Program Boards mission is to make sure that all ages, physical capabilities and body types can safely complete the program with results that leave them with a better sense of well-being.

What changes have you seen in the industry and your company in the past few years?
We have three locations here in Omaha, and will hopefully have a fourth opening soon.  The fitness industry in the Metro area is continually growing. Just five years ago there were maybe a handful of gyms and programs in the Omaha area, and now there is a gym or fitness center on every corner. Also, President Obama’s Health Initiative has given more awareness to the fitness industry, nutrition, and diet.  This awareness, as well as the increase in diabetes and obesity, has increased the need for flexible, structured wellness programs tailored to fit everyone.

What do you see happening with the business in the next five years?
The fitness industry is just getting started…and so are we! KOSAMA will have numerous locations throughout the metro area.  We also plan on focusing more time and effort with a youth and a seniors program.

What is one of the biggest challenges that your company has faced?
Helping people understand the KOSAMA program.  Men have one perception of group fitness and women have another.  However, once we get someone through the door, they get it and want more.  The best description that our clients use is “addictive!” Once someone realizes what KOSAMA is all about, they are willing to take the next step and start their new journey.

What has been your most important achievement as a business?
Helping people do things they never thought possible.  To give someone back their energy, confidence and self-esteem is huge!  Or to think that we may have saved someone’s life by motivating them to eat healthier, exercise and make better choices to become a better person – become that person they know they can be…that is very, very rewarding.

What was the biggest turning point in your business?
When our now CEO, Martin Webster, decided to join the KOSAMA team.  At one point I was trying to do it all and Martin helps keep me focused and on task.  I also now have an Operations Manager, Martin’s wife Kathy, handling all the day to day tasks and keeping all three facilities running smoothly as well as a Marketing Consultant, Cheri Reddick, helping me with promotions, media and brand awareness. Last, but not least, I have the most amazing trainers and coaches, and together we are an amazing team of individuals who truly care about helping Omaha become the fittest city in the U.S.!

What is the most unique or interesting thing about your business that most people don’t know?
That we have different workouts every day and change them week to week.  It doesn’t get repetitive and is always very energetic and motivating.  Having the numerous workouts keeps it interesting.

What is one goal for your business that you have yet to accomplish?
To have our own reality TV show!  Call me crazy, but I want to show REAL people going about their lives and the choices they make every day to be healthy and fit.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?
