Give us a brief synopsis of what your company does.
King Insurance is a local and independent insurance agency for both commercial and personal lines of coverage. Representing a carefully selected group of financially sound, reputable insurance companies, we place your policy with the company offering the best coverage at a competitive price. Our aim is to reduce your insurance cost and to reduce any gaps in your coverage. In the event of a loss, King Insurance is there to follow through and see that you get fair, prompt payment. Most importantly, we want to establish a relationship of mutual trust with each and every one of our clients.
How long have you been in Omaha?
King Insurance was founded in 1984.
What do you think makes you different from other companies similar to yours?
Our amazing employees who have been with us for many years, some close to 20 years! Plus, our family “vibe” helps us stand out as well. We are also the only agency in the Midwest that exclusively specializes in providing insurance coverages for manufactured homes and recreational vehicles.
Rick King is a second-generation owner of this family-owned business, founded by his father Dick King. Rick began his insurance career in 1987 after graduation from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in 1985. He joined King Insurance in 1988 as a CSR in personal lines.
What do you like about doing business in Omaha?
It’s a big city with a small town feel. We are grateful to be surrounded by many other successful locally owned businesses. It’s exciting to be a part of all the growth happening in the community around us.
What is your business philosophy or mission statement?
We don’t just sell insurance, we build relationships.
What changes have you seen in the industry and your company in the past few years?
As things advance in the digital world, we carry out more electronic transactions which leads to a higher risk of cyber theft for both homeowners and businesses. We take this very seriously by ensuring our software and processes keep our clients protected.
What is one of the biggest challenges that your company has faced?
We have clients in 13 states throughout the Midwest. Not being able to visit them in person this year because of the pandemic has been a real challenge because we are so relationship-driven. We’ve made it work, though!
What has been your most important achievement as a business?
Our agency was founded with the business model of serving the manufactured home (MH) and RV industries. Those are important components to our agency. We also felt it was a significant achievement when our founder, Dick King, was inducted into the RV/MH Hall of Fame.
