Tell us a little about your business (in your own words). – We are a husband and wife-owned company established in 2018. We build custom decks, and patio covers in the Omaha metro area.
How did you get started in the business? – Travis always had a dream of creating outdoor structures to last and give clients five-star communication and service. Together, with my experience with client service and love for our community, we brought this dream to life.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Our biggest challenge has been growing a team that fits our core values and dedication to the vision of our company.
Tell us a little about your family. – Travis and I met in 2016 and together we have four kids, ages 15 to 21, along with three adorable Hava-Poo dogs, that you’ll find photographed on our social media.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Funny, I like to bring laughter and smiles everywhere I go.
If you had a theme song, what would it be? – “Country Roads Take Me Home by John Denver. I left home at 18 to attend college and my roots will always remain in West Virginia. I miss the mountains and the people there.
What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins. I highly recommend it!
Who inspires you? – My Grandpa, Earl Eckard, even though he passed away years ago, his words continue to inspire me. He believed in me more than anyone and he filled my mind with positive words. He made me feel like I could do anything, Everyone needs someone like my Grandpa in their life!
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.” – Dr. Seuss
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Graduating from college, I never really enjoyed school and was proud to graduate.
What is your favorite thing to do on your day off? – Spend time at home, outside by the pool, or enjoy a show with my husband and kids.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Realizing I don’t need to be like others, just be myself. I didn’t realize this until I was almost 40.
If you could have a super power what would it be? – To always be strong, fit, and in shape. Darn metabolism!
What is your favorite local Omaha restaurant? – I have several. I love Blue Sushi, Salted Edge, and West End Charred Burger.
If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – I would love to meet Tina Fey or Amy Poehler! They’re both funny, smart, and successful!
