Meet Angela Erickson, the Family Service Director at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Cemetery and Mausoleum (forestlawnomaha.com)

Tell us a little about your business? – Forest Lawn is a full-service Funeral Home, Cemetery and Mausoleum with an on-site crematory and reception facility. We address all needs at one convenient location, and recently added Forever Friends Pet Cemetery. We’re also celebrating 140 years of service in 2025.

How did you get started in the business? – After graduating from college, I sent my resume out in response to many employment ads. Unbeknownst to me, I had set up an interview at a cemetery and funeral home. Following through on my commitment, I went to the interview and am thankful everyday that I did. This career has been very fulfilling in many ways, and I am passionate about what I do.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Finding a career that I passionate about. I can’t imagine going to work every day and not loving what I do. When you are passionate about it, it doesn’t feel like work.

Tell us a little about your family. – I have been married to my husband, Clint, for 21 years and we have two beautiful daughters, Ashlyn and Rilea.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Life is busy, so my days off are usually packed. However, I am very much a homebody, so if given the chance, staying home and relaxing is perfect.

Who inspires you? – My family inspires me every day to keep growing as an individual and to never give up on my goals and dreams.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – The one that has always stood out to me is, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel,” by Maya Angelou.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? – I think it would be absolutely amazing to hear what people are thinking. People can find it hard to be themselves or say what is on their mind, so it would be nice to hear their true thoughts.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – It would be truly amazing to be an archaeologist. I love treasure hunting!

What is your favorite movie? – The Green Mile

What is your favorite TV show? – I don’t really watch TV anymore, but when I did, Friends was one I didn’t miss!

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – Past would be Albert Einstein. Present would be Warren Buffett.
