River City Six – Rick Seamann
Meet Rick Seamann, vice president of indirect lending at Centris Federal Credit Union (www.centrisfcu.org).
Tell us a little about your business. – At Centris, we help members and new members finance all types of vehicles at local auto and recreational dealerships using technology to make the purchase easier.
How did you get started in the business? – I started off in the auto industry in the 90s selling vehicles and, after several promotions, I transitioned into credit union auto lending and auto lending technologies.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – I don’t see things as challenges, I see them as an opportunity to learn and grow. It’s amazing when you take this approach how challenges don’t seem like challenges!
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Creating a positive culture at each place I’ve worked. I try to make coming to work fun and exciting. When you have the right team with the right mindset, it makes accomplishing goals fun/easy.
Tell us a little about your family. – I am married to my wife Jamie. We have two daughters, Joslynn and Madilynn; two grandchildren, Carter and Kaysen; and two fur babies, Marley and Keeley. We recently moved to an acreage outside of Springfield along the Platte River.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Having children. They made life bigger than just myself.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I love anything outdoors—hiking, kayaking, running, or biking with my family and friends.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I’m an open book. If you know me, chances are you know more about me than you probably care to!
Who inspires you? – Rich Froning.
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Your mind is like a parachute….it only works if it’s open.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Passionate.
If you had a theme song, what would it be? – “Smiles on Faces” by Stick Figure.
What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – Outdoor survival skills.
Which talent would you most like to have? – Excel pivot tables!
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – NFL general manager.
What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – Nebraska Humane Society because animals don’t ask to be abandoned and all they want is love.
What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – IT by Stephen King.
What is your favorite movie? – Super Troopers.
What is your favorite TV show? – Anything about Alaska or off-grid living.
What is your favorite local restaurant? – The Drover, hands down!
