Tell us a little about your business. – Cuentas Claras(cuentasclarasllc.com) is a bilingual accounting and advisory firm focused on helping small business owners understand their numbers with clarity and confidence. Finances are already complex, but even more so when they are not in your native language. I work closely with the Latino community to break down the language and concepts so clients can make informed decisions and grow sustainably. Today, my work goes beyond bookkeeping and taxes. I translate opportunity for a community that has often been overlooked. I’ve always worked in accounting and finance, but I saw a gap. Many hardworking business owners were doing everything right, yet still felt uncertain about finances, especially the Latino community.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Learning to grow the right way without cutting corners. It required discipline, consistency, and staying committed even when progress felt slow. That process shaped how I operate and reinforced real growth comes from showing up every day.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Building a business that people trust. Most of my clients come through referrals, which reflect strong relationships and consistency. Being recognized as a top three accounting firm in Lincoln was meaningful, but what matters most is seeing my clients grow and gain confidence in financial decisions.

Tell us a little about your family. – My parents migrated from Guadalajara, Jalisco, and built a life through hard work and determination, which shaped my perspective early. I am also the oldest of four, which taught me responsibility and leadership. Now, as a mom of two, my children are my biggest motivation and the reason behind everything I build.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Deciding to bet on myself and start my own business. It pushed me beyond comfort and helped me grow into a more disciplined and intentional version of myself.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Spend time with my kids. Whether at home or at their activities, being present with them is what matters most.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I enjoy taking complex problems, breaking them down, and explaining them in a way people understand so they can move with confidence.

Who inspires you? – Immigrants and entrepreneurs who build something from nothing and create opportunities for others, especially within the Latino community.

What is your favorite quote? – “Sí se pudo.” It represents the foundation my parents built and the progress we’ve been able to make as a family.

If you had a theme song, what would it be? – “He Venido a Pedirte Perdón” by Juan Gabriel. He’s my favorite artist, and as a Latina, his music has always resonated deeply with me. It’s not just the lyrics, but the emotion, instrumentals, and overall essence of the song.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – I play the violin in Mariachi. It’s a meaningful connection to my Latina culture and a creative outlet.

Which talent would you most like to have? – Public speaking at a larger scale to educate and reach more people.
