River City Six – Michael Wohlgemuth

Meet Michael Wohlgemuth, the chief operating officer at Gratton Warehouse.

Tell us a little about your business.

Gratton Warehouse Company was established in 1894 and is located in Omaha, Nebraska.
We are a 3 rd Party Logistics Company who provides everything from pick / pack operations
to end-to-end logistics. Being a 5 th generation company and in the business for 126 years,
we have learned, adapted and optimized our warehousing operations to help service our
growing customer base. We pride ourselves on focusing on what our partners need and in
turn, letting them focus on growing their businesses. We continually strive to provide the
best customer service to our partners, continually evolving in the warehousing industry and
a focus on our family culture.

How did you get started in the business?

Before starting with the company, I actually partnered with Gratton Warehouse. I can say
their motto of “Letting us do what we do best to let you sleep better at night” was something
they truly lived by. When an opportunity came about within their organization, I knew that
was a team I wanted to be part of. I joined the team in June of 2016 and I have been
enjoying the time spent here, and I looking forward to many more years to come.

What has been your most important achievement professionally?

When I was in college, I set a goal of being an operations manager by the age of 30. After my son was born, I really dug in on my career to grow and provide for my family. I was able to achieve that goal, which was something that was very important to me.

Tell us a little about your family.

My wife and I have been married for nine years. She currently works as a scheduler for the power district. We have four beautiful children. Our eldest son is in middle school, our daughter is in elementary, and the youngest daughter and son are still a few years away from kindergarten. They are all full of energy…we never have a dull moment around the house!

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?

Having my first child. It changed my focus on where I was and where I needed to go.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?

Spending time with my family. I also enjoy running, golfing, and being outdoors, but the time I am able to spend with my wife and kids is ultimately my favorite.
