The daughter of the owners of Home Real Estate in Columbus, NE, Megan Dreesen grew up in the real estate business. Following her dad’s suggestion she got her real estate license after college. She has been a REALTOR with CBSHOME Real Estate, Omaha’s largest residential sales team, for the past four years. She works full time with buyers and sellers to purchase and list homes in the Omaha metro area.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Getting started, real estate is definitely learn as you go. All the training in the world can’t prepare you for some of the challenges you encounter in this business. My dad has taught me to never give up; there is always a solution to every problem. I tell myself that whenever I am in a tough situation with a buyer or seller.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – I just received the Achievement Award at my Pacific street office for 2010.

Tell us a little about your family. – I grew up in a large family. I have three sisters and one brother and they mean the world to me. We are all very close.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – My first sale; that was the moment I knew real estate would be my career.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Hang out with my nieces, Ella and Lilly, or go to a movie.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I was big into soccer growing up. I dreamed of being the next Mia Hamm.

What are you the most proud of? – My family, I am very blessed to have them all in my life!

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.

What is the one goal you would most like to accomplish? – To give back to the community. Currently, I am involved in the Junior League of Omaha and Habitat For Humanity of Omaha YP. I want to make a difference in someone else’s life.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? – Invisibility

What are your plans after retirement? – I don’t think Realtors ever retire, do they?

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – I am artistic; I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

Which talent would you most like to have? – The ability to remember everything.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle, amazing book.

What is your favorite movie? – Grease or Dirty Dancing, it’s a tie.

What is your favorite TV show? – The Real Housewives (any city)

What is your favorite local restaurant? – The Greek Islands on 38th & Center, hands down the best Greek food in town!
