Nebraska Change Works offers life coaching and mentoring services to the Greater Omaha and Lincoln, NE areas. Founder Devan Martin is a senior level consultant, coach and certified trainer with over 15 years of experience. Her purpose is to create an alliance with her clients that will empower them to reconnect to their own inner wisdom and to have powerful moments of choice from which positive, lasting change is created.
Tell us a little about your business. – As a coach I help people gain clarity and focus so they can move through anything in life that might be stopping them from achieving their goals. These goals might be advancing in their professional life, having a relationship that has ease and flow, or even achieving a personal goal in some other area. As it turns out this has a lot to do with creating an amazing relationship with yourself, your body, your heart and what I will call your “wise” mind (not your inner critic). Learning how to listen to these 3 remarkable Centers of Intelligence allows us to have, clarity, creativity and connection. I coach individuals and offer team building workshops for businesses or groups of any kind.
How did you get started in the business? – I studied Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) many years ago. It is the study of how we communicate within ourselves and how we communicate with others. I wanted my own communication skills to improve so I guess you could say it all started as desire for personal development.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Probably moving from Houston, TX last year. It was like starting all over again after having a business in Houston for 15 years.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Seeing my clients’ lives move from difficult/stuck situations to successful outcomes.
Tell us a little about your family. – I am married to Jeff Martin, owner of Lincoln & Omaha Hypnosis. I have two sons, Dan Tindall and Kirk Tindall. Dan works with HP in Palo Alto, CA and is the Vice President of World Wide Distribution. Kirk is the President of Maudlin and Son, an industrial machine shop in Kemah, TX.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – My decision to study NLP changed my life in a dramatic way. It led me to my studies of hypnosis, The Enneagram and Presence-Based Coaching.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I have many things I love to do on a day off. I love going to Haymarket when it is in season, going to a good movie in the theatres (if there is a good one playing), or going on a road trip with Jeff. I love reading and cooking too!
What are you the most proud of? – My sons and my work.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Trustworthy.
If you had a theme song, what would it be? – At the moment since I am new to Lincoln, the Phillip Phillips song “Home.” I am making Nebraska my “home.”
