Chad Carpender was working in the construction industry doing framing, concrete and decks when a large hail storm came through Omaha and he realized the city was in need of a professional gutter company.  He began installing gutters and was approached by Leafproof to become an installation company for their product.  His business, CARP’S Seamless Gutters, is now the most experienced Leafproof installation company in the Midwest region with over 25,000 feet installed in the last year alone.  Recently, his business has also moved into the siding business and focuses on James Hardie concrete siding for residential and commercial clients.

What has been your biggest challenge professionally?
Balancing work and family.  I work all the time and it can be rough on the family life.

Tell us a little about your family.
I am married to Jennifer and we have three kids.  Jarod is 14, Isabelle is 10 and Madelynn is 3.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?
When I got diagnosed with MS three years ago.  I knew I would have to get more people on board with my business as I wouldn’t be able to do as much of the physical labor and it ended up being what propelled my business to the next level.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
Traveling.  We like to go see places we haven’t been or take kids somewhere fun.  Skipping away for the weekends, even if it’s just to Kansas City, is always nice.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?
Probably that I came from nothing.  I didn’t have any help building this business and am proud to have built a successful company through nothing but hard work.

What are you the most proud of?
My wife and kids.  Their patience and courage and support with me being gone so much has been wonderful.  Their personalities are just so great and I always look forward to coming home.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Never be more late than 15 minutes early.  I was late to a bid once with an older gentleman in the insurance industry and he told me that.  I’ve been 15 minutes early to all my meetings ever since.

If you could have a super power, what would it be?
I‘d like to be able to fly.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life?
Anything artistic, like drawing, painting or sculpting.
