Tell us a little about your business. – Omaha Event Group (omahaeventgroup.com) is an event conglomerate that currently has four spaces in Omaha for events. The original venue is the Omaha Design Center, which is home to Omaha Fashion Week, the nation’s fourth-largest fashion show. It is an honor to be up there with some of the greatest staples of fashion in America. One thing I love about Omaha Fashion Week and Omaha Event Group is the ability to throw a really great party. We bring people together from all walks of life and all across the nation to celebrate fashion in a space where people are welcoming, social and expressive of their personal passions and style. There is nothing quite like Omaha’s fashion and arts community. If you haven’t ever experienced Omaha Fashion Week, come check us out on August 20 to 23 and say hi!

How did you get started in the business? – I attended college at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, studying fashion communications. I interned with Omaha Fashion Week and fell in love with the shows and their mission. After graduation, I was hired as an assistant and have worked my way up in the company, finding my passion in marketing. I now oversee all marketing for the Omaha Event Group’s venues and events under Brook Hudson.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Working at Omaha Fashion Week, from a college internship to a full-time position, has been empowering and has grown and shaped me into adulthood. The biggest achievement from my experiences so far is the ability to feel empowered in making my own decisions. In events, there are always moments of high stress where your decision will have a lot of impact. Having the autonomy to make decisions and follow through with them has given me the confidence both personally and professionally to trust myself and make change where it is needed.

Tell us a little about your family. – I recently had a sweet baby boy, who just turned one! He is truly my purpose and the light of my life.

Who inspires you? – Women! All of the women that I have encountered through my workplace have shown me the characteristics of grace, fortitude, leadership and strength. Working alongside so many female business owners has shown me the potential that I did not originally see in myself. As I have grown, I have continued to take notes on their poise and decisiveness as they navigate leadership with grace.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Kind. I think one of the most important things we can do as people is treat others kindly and make their lives better for having interacted with you. I always hope that others have a positive interaction or relationship with me and that in some way, I was able to go out of my way for them to make their day.

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – Omaha is full of so many organizations that improve the arts and culture landscape. It is truly the best city I’ve lived in in terms of having an arts scene. Some organizations that I love are Omaha Performing Arts, Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, The Union for Contemporary Art, Culxr House and KANEKO. I have a sweet dog that I adopted from the Nebraska Humane Society six years ago, so that organization is close to my heart.
