Kelly Caverzagie, M.D., associate vice chair for quality and physician competence in the University of Nebraska Medical Center Department of Internal Medicine, has been appointed associate dean for educational strategy for the College of Medicine. As associate dean in the newly created position, Dr. Caverzagie will be responsible for identifying, implementing and assessing educational strategies at the undergraduate, graduate and post graduate level as well as monitoring local and national trends in medical education and making recommendations for the integration of appropriate training and assessment programs for the College of Medicine.
He currently serves as education liaison for the leadership group for OneTeam, the new clinical enterprise initiative involving the College of Medicine, The Nebraska Medical Center, UNMC Physicians and the Bellevue Medical Center.
Dr. Caverzagie, who works clinically as a hospitalist, obtained his medical degree from UNMC in 2001 and served as chief resident during his internal medicine residency at UNMC. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Following his residency, Dr. Caverzagie completed a two-year Clinician-Educator Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania focusing on self-assessment among trainees.
