Following a nationwide search, Troy Plumb, M.D., has been selected as the new division chief of nephrology in the UNMC Department of Internal Medicine. Dr. Plumb, who has served as interim division chief since 2011, said he was honored to have been chosen to lead the division moving forward. Dr. Plumb started the Nephrology Fellowship Program in July 2007, and he serves as the fellowship director. He is consistently voted one of the top teachers in internal medicine and received the Sir William Osler Resident Teaching Award in 2008. Dr. Plumb earned his M.D. at UNMC in 1997, serving his internship and residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. From 2001 to 2004, he was a fellow at Duke University Medical Center. He returned to UNMC in 2004. Dr. Plumb’s clinical interests include home dialysis therapies, acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease. He is also the director of the Home Dialysis Clinic.
